MINUTES OF THE 6TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AND CONFERENCE 23RD – 24TH NOVERMBER, 2022 FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCE AUDITORIUM, UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS
DAY ONE (23RD NOVEMBER, 2022)
The conference started at about 10:30 am with courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of
University of Lagos (UNILAG); Professor Folasade Ogunsola, FAS by the National leadership
of the Association of Environmental Impact Assessment of Nigeria (AEIAN) led by its President, Mr. Ahmed Sanda. Other members of the association and invited Guest in company of the President included Prof. Ijeoma Vincent-Akpu, Dr. Banji Adekoya, Dr. Miriam Igwo-Ezikpe,Engr. Nnenna Igwegbe, Dr. Fidelia Osuala, Mr. Peter Onyagbodor, Prof. Yusuf Deeeni (Keynotespeaker) and Prof. Nnamdi Sambo (invited guest). The Vice Chancellor ably represented by the
Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services) Professor Lucian O. Chukwu in company of
other University of Lagos Management staff who included Prof. Bola Oboh (Deputy Vice
Chancellor, Academics and Research), Mr. Ismaila O. Azeez Esq (Registrar), Prof. Grace O.
Otinwa (Director, Quality Assurance and Servicom unit) and members of the University media
welcomed the AEIAN delegates.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor, UNILAG noted that UNILAG will always be home to intellectual
discourse which would propel researches and engender national growth and development. He
described academic conferences, research fairs, public lectures and exhibitions as part of
activities which distinguishes universities as citadels for knowledge creation and curation.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor also informed that UNILAG boasts of a Sustainable Procurement,
Environmental and Social Standards Enhancement Centre of Excellence (UNILAG SPESSCE)
among several other reputable research centers, one which he said, seals the place of the
university as a leading light in research efforts for standards in Procurement, Environmental
Safety and other related issues..
Prof. Chukwu wished the Association success at its conference and expressed hopes that the conference will yield fruitful ideas and innovations as well as propel viable intellectual discourse thereby promoting national growth and development. Mr. Ahmed Sanda in his response appreciated the University of Lagos for its commitment to excellence. He assured UNILAG management of the association’s readiness to partner with UNILAG in areas relevant to the association’s goals and objectives..
The AEIAN members thereafter stopped at Faculty of Science Dean’s office to have brief
interaction. The Dean, Professor Elijah Oyeyemi received the President and his members.
